Today was possibly the most awesome day ever. I will explain why in a convenient-to-follow numbered list.
- First, several friends and I went to a local micro-brewery, took a tour complete with samples, and then went for sushi.
- Then I got home and discovered that fellow WordPress blogger Misha Burnett had mentioned my book in his latest blog post in a very flattering manner.
- Then I discovered that fellow WordPress blogger J.R. Wolfe had finished reading my book and posted a glowing review on Amazon.com.
- And to top it all off, Celeste DeWolfe sent me my first ever piece of fan art. And it’s gorgeous!!!
When I first started writing, I always thought the coolest part about being an author must be getting fan art — seeing how other people envision your characters, and watching them brought to life. And now Celeste has fulfilled that lifelong dream of mine, and I’m beyond ecstatic. Woooo!!!
I’m getting too excited. Let’s all take a deep, calming breath and move on to …
The Magnet Giveaway!!!
I decided to record the name-drawing event for posterity because, heck, why not, so here is Vlog #6 — Magnet Giveaway + The Book is Here! ((to just see who the winners are, skip down to below the video))
As you discovered in that super exciting video, the winners of the magnet giveaway are:
Congratulations, my magnetic friends! (Get it? Magnetic? Hehehe …) I will attempt to contact you tomorrow to acquire your postal addresses for mailing purposes, but if you feel like dropping me a line at michellishelli@gmail.com and letting me know your addresses, that saves me a step!
So, most awesome day ever? Possibly. It’s definitely in the running. Thanks to everyone who participated in the giveaway, and thanks especially to the personages mentioned above for supporting/enjoying Imminent Danger!!!

Hah! Last minute entries always win! And I am so jealous of your fan art–it’s perfect. Much more Eris and Varrin than the couple on the cover. (It’s a lovely cover, mind you, but the DeWolfe piece has them in action.)
Oh, I agree. But that’s what happens when you have to work with stock photography for cover design *sigh*. Celeste’s drawings are just awesome. I wish I had her talent!
And I will locate your email address and send you a plea for your address soon. SOOOOOOOON!
Oh my gosh!! xD ❤ I was just erupting into fits of happy-giggles all over that video. I mean, it's not often that you have a group of awesome gals sitting around talking about you and your art on a vlog, is it? (What's that? It is? Oh, well, I'll be excited anyway.) I guess the mood was just infectious. =D I can't believe I (almost) made you cry! Well hey, my night was made. ^^ Again, glad you liked it!! I'll shoot you an e-mail for my awesome magnet–which I can't wait to get!
Hahaha well, like I said, we really liked the picture 😀
Quick question: Mother wants to share your picture with everyone she knows, and then some. Is it okay if we share the image, so long as we give you credit? 🙂
Of course! 😀 I’d be delighted! x) Share away~
Well dangit, if you aint covering all them bases. How do you do it?
Lol, which bases exactly am I covering?
Well, first you got your published book. Then you got your promotional magnets. Then you got your video there advertising said books and magnets. I believe this is what the company stiffs call media penetration and cross-promotion. I assume there’s more, you’re good like that 😉
Ah, yes. I completely planned to do this so-called “media penetration” and “cross-promotion”. I am extremely marketing-savvy like that. Beware, internet!
Just sent you an email, sweetie. Thank you so much. Love it all. So happy and proud of you. 😀 ((hugs))
And I got the email! Huzzah! I will probably send the magnets out on Monday, although I will be using the super slow Canada Post because, well, I’m poor. 🙂 But the magnet will just be in a normal envelope, so I figure it should arrive fairly quickly.
No problem, Sweetie.
Thank you.
YAY can we have them autographed pleaseeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Autograph a magnet? I didn’t even think of that! Hmm … I’ll have to find a marker that will write on the laminated front … Any colour preferences on the marker colour?
silver – sharpies work have had to experiment myself recently lol
I shall make a trip to the local sharpie-store and see what I can find 🙂
Aww thankyou 😀
Really a wearwolf is a lot like a wolfwere (a wolf that can take on the form of a human).
Except that if a wolf took on human form, their wolf skin wouldn’t serve as a cloak for their human form. Unless they shed their skin every time they change?
Very true. But a wear wolf is a wolf you wear, so it would be wolfwear.
I bought your book (e book edition) and am hooked so far. Great first pages, (my biggest challenge). Seems professionally edited. You’ve got great talent.
Thanks 🙂 And my mother thanks you as well, as she is the mastermind behind most of the editing (although we did get it copy-edited as well). She says, and I quote, “I love the comment! Woo!”
Love the wolf image. And your videos are priceless! (Is that chocolate wine I see? I *love* chocolate wine.) Congratulations on all the positive feedback.
Hahaha sadly no, not chocolate wine. It’s actually a Mudshake (Mudslide? I never remember the name) — basically chocolate milk mixed with vodka. So it’s sort of like wine in the sense that it has alcohol? And thanks! I’m having a blast with this self-publishing thing so far 🙂
WOOOOHOOO!!! I’m a winner! And the first winner, no less. I’m so excited. And VERY excited for you on receiving a print copy of your book. That’s awesome!!! I am fully intending to order a copy when you get the kinks worked out, too, so be sure to let us know when the new ones are available. 🙂
Will do 🙂 Now, here’s the real question: do you want your magnet signed? I’m on a trek to the store tomorrow to acquire a shiny silver sharpie in case you wanted my name scrawled across the magnet. Feel free to say no if you don’t want the beauty of the magnet marred by my scrawling 😀
Oh definitely! The author’s signature is a must!
Definitely an awesome day! And the artwork is totally cool.
It’s incredibly cool! Art has always been something I wish I was better at — I’m crazy envious of people who can just set pen to paper and produce beautiful drawings, whereas I draw and erase and draw and erase and it still comes out looking like the person was squashed by a steamroller.
Wow, getting fan art … you’re living the dream 🙂
I am!!! And the best part is that I hit a writer’s block a few months back with the sequel, but this fan art seems to have unblocked me. The power of art and whatnot. So now it’s full steam ahead! Woo!
Love the “writers block” post so much I’m off to find a UNIVERSITY!
Great site : jontystales.
Thanks 🙂 And good luck with your quest. Make sure to wear running shoes in case the po po catch you in the act.
