Imminent Danger — Official Book Trailer #1

I was getting caught up on reading blogs today, and about halfway through reading a random post I had a ridiculous idea for a book trailer. At first I thought, “No, that’s just silly. You can’t make a book trailer like that.” And then I thought, “But there are so many bad book trailers out there — how can this idea possibly be worse?” And then I thought, “Screw it, I’m making it.”

Thus without further ado, I present to you the first (more to come) official book trailer for Imminent Danger And How to Fly Straight into It:

(here’s a link in case that didn’t work)

Hahahaha. Oh man. I crack up every time I watch that. What a ridiculous trailer, especially with the super cheesy music.

*wipes tears from eyes*

Anyway, let me know what you think! And if you want to steal my awesome trailer idea and make one of your own, make sure you credit meeeeeee! (Or not. Whatever floats your virtual boat.)

  1. Too funny. Love your choice of music.

  2. Quite fancy. Who knew a black background and white text could work so well. Though, I have to give credit to that awesome music.

  3. I loved it. The music was great it seemed suspenseful to me. I can’t wait to read it and give a review!

    • Yay! I had a lot of fun making it (could you tell? lol). Now let’s just hope the cover design goes well. They sent me a first draft today, and they gave the bad boy alien love interest a pistol. Like, an earth pistol. Aliens don’t use pistols! Ahhhhhh.

      • Well, you could just say something along the lines of…. He wasn’t allowed to take his dangerous alien gun to the photo shoot! Human safety and all that! So they had to give him a human gun prop. He was totally bummed out but he must do what is required of him. 😀
Hope you found that funny! Trying to cheer you up.

        • Hahaha well you managed to make me smile, which is good 🙂 I’m just annoyed because I was so excited that I would get to see the cover today, and then it turned out to be … well, kind of awful. I’ll be sending them an extensive list of edits, so hopefully they’ll prove more competent the second time round.

          • I”m sorry, I can’t imagine how sad it would be to see something like that. I hope they fix it for you. Just remember we on earth don’t have super cool alien guns, so it won’t be as awesome as you imagined it. ((hugs))

  4. Loved the tongue in cheek humour, underlined by your choice of brilliant & cheesy music

    Great trailer lol

  6. I loved it. The music is brilliant. When it changes, just as the title appears (near the end) it’s like ‘TaDa!’ It’s wonderful! Really funny – which is an achievement, given all you have to work with is white text, black background and music!

    • Lol thanks. When I realized I needed to make a book trailer, I was like “Well, crud. I have the video composition skills of a washing machine.” And then I was like, “Wait. I don’t need skills! Ahahahaha,” and made this. Glad you enjoyed 😀

      • I think I’m going to make ‘Wait! I don’t need skills. Ahahahaha!’ my official life-motto. I think I’d get a lot more accomplished if I kept that thought at the forefront of my mind at all times. 😀

  7. One of the very few times I use the term, “ROTFLMAO.” I was waiting for some adult themed alien video to play behind it, or maybe a Captain Kirk cameo. Seriously though, very bold move. It lends to your sense of humor, and yet makes me even more interested in the book itself. Good job on bringing humor and commercialism together in such a simple, light-hearted way.

    • Lol thanks. I didn’t even notice how adult-video the music sounded until I played the whole video back once it was done. And then I was like … hmm. That’s interesting. And it was awesome, so I kept it 😀

  8. Love it! I spent days working on my book trailer and yours is just as effective. It’s so inspiring to see something done effectively and simply. Well done, Michelle.

    • I was thinking of doing something like that! Lol and I love your cute little spaceship and laser gun pics. Adorable! Not very “imminent danger” though, lol. Which site did you get those from? Is it free free, like I can use the pics for whatever I want?

      • They’re all from MorgueFiles. All of the photos there are copyright and royalty free. You don’t even have to credit them (although I do in my book trailer and on my website). Go look around their site and see if there’s something you like better.

Flickr also has a section of copyright-free photos, but most of them you do have to give credit for. The other place I use is Wikicommons, although they’re not likely to have the sort of pictures you need for this particular project.

Maybe for weird alien-ness, you should tinge the pictures varying shades–green, magenta, violet, etc. I found that having a similar color-theme in all my pictures tied the whole thing together better.

        • Cool! I didn’t realize that site existed. Oooh I like the tingeing idea. Now to find a program where I can tinge things, lol. Might be time to invest in Photoshop …

  9. SO INTENSE. Loved it. 🙂

  10. Love it. Love the music! You are too much fun.

I was inspired and made one of my own at Animoto. 🙂
