2012 RAWR!

RAWR! because 2012 was the Year of the Dragon. Obviously.

I have officially returned from my Christmas vacation. Went home to visit the paternal unit, ate some turkey, watched Modern Family, went shopping on both Christmas Eve and Boxing Day (guess which one was busier?), got a Nintendo 3DS so I can play that new Kingdom Hearts game … and now I’ve returned to my apartment, my mother, and to the many hours of cleaning I will need to do in order to prepare for our New Years party tonight.

Phew!

Anyway, I’m in a reflectory (totally a word) mood since it’s the end of the year, so I thought I’d share my top picks for 2012. And then I have to work, because I’m still behind 14.75 hours for the month of December, and it ends … well, today.

Top Movie of 2012

Dude, it’s the Avengers. How could it not win?

Top Book of 2012

Sequel to The Name of the Wind. Brilliant fantasy novel about a hero in exile recounting his adventures.

Top English Song of 2012:

I’m going to get a lot of flak for this one, but my mood lifts 300% whenever this song comes on. Plus I love it. Plus she’s Canadian! GO CANADA!

Top Korean Song of 2012:

Such a fun song. And infinitely better than Gangnam Style, IMHO.

Top TV Show of 2012:

I don’t care whether or not you like fantasy. You need to see this show, if only to understand why everyone loves it so much.

Top Commenters of 2012:

Taken from my WordPress Annual Report, here are the top five commenters on my blog:

  1. Maddie Cochere
  2. Antoinettesmut
  3. Mari Wells
  4. Celeste DeWolfe
  5. Keri Peardon

You ladies rock!!!

And now I have officially run out of Top topics. Agree with my choices? Disagree vehemently? Let me know in the comments!

Also …

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  1. Have a wonderful evening and a great year to come 😀

  2. Have an Awesome 2013…:)

  3. Oh…can I nominate this song as my favourite for 2012?

    Absolutely love it!!!

  4. Damn! Reflectory IS a word. 🙂

    Happy New Year, Rara.

  5. Happy New Year, Michelle!

  6. The Avengers ranks up there as one of my favorites, too. But I also loved Skyfall, and I recently saw DJango Unchained and loved it (even if it was heavy on the violence, but hey, it’s Tarantino; that’s what one expects). Happy New Year!

  7. When it comes to TV American Horror Story: Asylum is my favorite this year. Followed by Grimm for the hotness of the lead and awesomeness that is Monroe.

    • Horror and mystery aren’t my thing, but I’ve heard great things about both those shows. I really wish I could get into Grimm more, because I love fairy tales. Speaking of, have you read the Fables comic book series? It’s kind of the same concept as the show Once Upon A Time, except way better. If you like comics, you should check it out. And if you don’t like comics, forget I said anything lol.

  8. These are the worst picks EVER!

Actually, they are dandy. Although that BigBang song got a little too much airplay in our apartment for my taste.

  9. Happy New Year Michelle. May the new year bring your biggest dreams and goals. I’ll be here to cheer you on.

  10. Happy New Year, Michelle! Yikes! I am your top commenter. I can’t help it; I have so much fun over here. Take pictures tonight, and have tons of fun! 🙂

    • Pictures were taken, fun was had, cookies were consumed, confetti was exploded, and the New Year was heralded in with my extremely drunk and obnoxiously loud friend bellowing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. I feel so sorry for our elderly neighbours.

  11. Happy New Year, Michelle! I actually had no idea 2012 was the Year of the Dragon… and I’m a Dragon myself. Shame. =[
I agree with you that Avengers was awesome, and it would’ve been my favourite were it not for The Hobbit!

    • I remember being really excited about year of the dragon back in January of 2012, but then the novelty wore off and I completely forgot about it until I was writing this post, lol.

The Hobbit was great!!! My *only* issue with it was the super long council scene with Gandalf, Galadriel, etc. I tried to focus on what they were saying, but just ended up watching Galadriel walk round and round the table. 😀

  12. Why viewers still use to read news papers when in this technological world all is
    available on net?

  13. I have read so many posts concerning the blogger lovers
however this article is in fact a good piece of writing, keep it up.

What do you think?
