Enter Vlog the Fourth! + MAJOR UPDATES!

I just spent way more time than I should have making this vlog:

To give you the overview, in case you don’t want to watch the whole thing, here are the MAJOR UPDATES I referred to in the title:

  1. Copy-edit is finished and manuscript is submitted to Editorial Review Board!
  2. Editorial Review Board has finished looking over the manuscript!
  3. I’m officially in the Editor’s Choice Program!
  4. Which means I qualify for Rising Star! See this link for details!
  5. Current publication date = January 2013!

That was an excessive use of exclamation marks. I really need to calm down and do something useful, like finish my project due tomorrow.

Le sigh.

  1. Wonderful news! !!!Happy Dance!!!
I’m too excited for you! πŸ˜€

  2. WOO HOO!!! Congrats, and can’t wait to buy it. I’m super excited for you. Happy dancing on my end. Ya ya! I’m seriously super stoked for for you and can’t wait to send out a bunch of blasts on my FB and twitter pages. Go girl!!!

    • Hahaha you’re the best πŸ˜€ You totally just made my day! And considering today is when I found out about Editor’s Choice, I’d consider that a serious compliment if I were you πŸ˜€

  3. Okay, I watched your vlog: you have A.D.D.: SQUIRREL. Haha! That Rising Star TIS sheet sucks, but its all about marketing material. They want to know that you will put tons of time and effort into marketing. Let them know you have a Twitter platform and if you don’t have a FB page get it, don’t wait on them to do it. P.S. tell them you have friends in California who will help you cross promote (’cause we will), and tell them you will have a blog tour (they love that), and any profit you make will go back into marketing. Also, don’t wait on them to do a web page, it isn’t all that great. Try Wix.com for a pretty fun website.

  4. I am a fan of the exclamation point! Use them liberally!! … I watched the whole vlog, and then I watched your first vlog that I somehow missed! And you have enough energy for ten people! … Congratulations, Michelle. I love your enthusiasm, and I’m so happy for you that this is all going so well. It will be awesome to see your book in print. … And thank you for always providing bloopers. πŸ˜‰

    • Ahhh I typed a response and it disappeared! Okay, summary:
      – I would make the whole video bloopers if I could, but then it wouldn’t be very informative, which sadly negates the whole point of the vlogging thing
      – I love exclamation marks too!!!
      – I’m energetic in my vlogs because I should be doing something else and am procrastinating horribly by doing something fun (aka vlogging)

  5. Great news! I’m not at all surprised your work has been recognised as ‘Rising Star’ quality. Really excited for you and will look forward to, hopefully, being able to throw some money your way soon (in exchange for your words, naturally!) Congratulations.

    • Hahaha, I like that little proviso. Of course, if you would prefer to throw money at me not in exchange for my words, I’d be totally cool with that too πŸ™‚ And the book *technically* has only been recognised as “Editor’s Choice” quality so far — Rising Star is the next step. But I’m going to fill out that 3 page marketing survey like nobody’s business, and they’ll just HAVE to give me Rising Star as well. Muahahahaha.

  6. I think you should write the fan fiction and then sue yourself for copyright infringement.

    Subversive marketing without violence!

    • I like it! Imagine the media coverage! “Deluded author sues self for copyright infringement. Case thrown out of court for being ‘just plain stupid’.”

  7. Hope it works out. I spoke to them awhile back, but I’ve been soured on the POD houses and didn’t take them up on their introductory offer. Best of luck and hope you make big sales!
