About Me

DSCF1026Hi. I’m Michelle. I love fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, sappy romances, and everything awesome. I also write books from time to time. My current work in progress is Book #3 of the Imminent Danger series. This series is unabashedly ridiculous, and involves alien abduction, a heart-throb alien mercenary, laser guns, six-armed lizard men with a curious predilection for the color blue, and a teenage girl trying to find her way home. It’s awesome. You should read it.

I’m also very fond of bacon and cheesecake, although not at the same time. Call me a heathen if you must, but bacon on dessert just freaks me out.

Here are some more pictures of me. Prepare yourself.

I have discovered a broken column, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

My brief time as a magical butterfly. I got better.

My brother and I. He is approximately sixteen feet tall.

My mother and I. She edits all my books. I’m quite fond of her.

My best friend and her cats, Sirius and Giles. Sirius inspired an alien species called “moofas”, and Giles provides me with scintillating conversation.

Mother and I video chat when we edit my books. In this photo, she is laughing at me. Probably with good reason.

Mother is once again laughing at me. This is becoming a worrying trend.

Hey! I couldn’t find a contact email for you so here are the rules of the award I nominated you for this morning.

    Hey Michelle,
Here is your versatile blogger award.
    VBA Rules
If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.
Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.

Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

  8. Thanks for Following The Dark Globe

    DarkJade-

  9. Your blog is full of life and personality. Reading it is a such a joy. I am nominating you for Inspiring Blogger Award

Best wishes on your space opera, a fondness of mine too, and thanks for popping round my blog!

  11. Hey Michelle! Thanks for the follow. I found you via your review of Jason’s book of poetry. I was also going to review his book, just haven’t had time to read it yet. Can I borrow some hours? 😉
When I do get round to it I will feel challenged to write one as good as yours. I haven’t written many reviews recently and suddenly find them queuing up at my door!
I like your bubbly style. It makes me smile. 🙂
    Looking forward to more.

    Cheers,

    Richard!

    • My hours are your hours. I suppose that would make them (h)our hours! Ha ha … yeah. Ahem. Have fun with the reviews 🙂 I have about 15 books to read/review piled up in my Kindle app. Although I did just steal my tablet back from my brother, so at least I’ll be able to take them on the go with me now. Huzzah!

  12. Cool. Puns! We could have pun fun with our hours! Or we could rhyme and mime. Sorry, that was bad.
Wow. I think I’ll go now… I have a review to do. Damn! Did it again! 😉

  13. Really love your blog and the light and breezy style of voice. I love space operas but I am not a massive fan of YA. However if your protaganist rocks, I’ll come with you on the journey. Sarah

    • Well, it’s YA in the sense that it’s written at that reading level. It’s not very YA in that, although there is a romance, it’s extremely slow building, and I think the word “love” is used perhaps three times in the entire book. And there’s lots of space battles and aliens etc., so you might enjoy it 🙂 If I ever get it published, lol.

  14. Space battles and aliens you say… Count me in! :o)

  15. Hi Michelle – I’ve enjoyed following your blog and wanted to thank you for reading. Ms. Nine nominated me for the Beautiful Blogger award… if you don’t have it yet, you can accept it officially on August 13, when the post where I wrote about your blog goes live. (I’m traveling on Saturday and had to schedule things ahead of time.) This link won’t work… yet: http://thelivingnotebook.wordpress.com/2012/08/13/beautiful-blogging-award/.

I hope your book is getting thinner 🙂

  16. BTW, I nominated you for the One Lovely Blogger Award: http://outwherethebusesdontrun.com/2012/09/06/my-first-blogging-award/

I’m pretty sure you’ve been nominated before, but it doesn’t hurt having another one thrown your way, no?

  17. When will your e-book be available? It sounds like a lot of fun!

    • It is fun! Or so I’ve been led to believe, lol. I’m going to submit it for publication at the end of September, so hopefully it will be available around December. More news as it happens 🙂

  18. Nice sense of humor. Hopefully, it comes through in your books. When I have time I will have to check them out.

  19. Michelle; what a great blog! I love your helpful hints. Thank you so much for following my blog. I look forward to many more conversations and your novel.

  20. Awards ceremony at my blog yesterday! I nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! If you choose to accept, the usual rules apply – seven things about yourself; nominated others! 🙂

  21. Hi Michelle!

Thanks for stopping by Rob Mahan Books. I’m glad you liked my post “The (Long) Tail of Self-Published Authors”. All the best for your upcoming novel, “Imminent Danger”. I’m following your blog now, and I’ll keep an eye out for your publication announcement!

    All the best,
    Rob

  22. Did you say alien aubductions, laser guns, and romance? Where can I get this?!

    • I did! Tragically it’s still in the publication process, so you’ll have to wait until approximately December 🙂 But it’s called “Imminent Danger”, so keep an eye out for it!

      • I will! I am very excited about this. It kind of reminds me of what I write about: librarians, robots, massive epidemics, and doomsday times. I can’t wait to read yours!! Will be buying it. ❤

You had me at laser gun.

    • Oooooh, mysterious! You do realize, however, that the link reveals the type of award? A+ for effort at being mysterious, though 🙂 And thanks for the nomination!

      • Umm…
        Er…
No one actually reads the links,do they? You’re not supposed to read the actual link. 😉
The mystery is as long as it takes read from “blog award” to the end of the link. Hey, a mystery that takes 800 milliseconds to solve is still a mystery! 😉

Hi, thank you for stopping by my blog. Much success to you in your writing journey. Looking forward to read some of your work 🙂

  48. They say write what you know… I’m more of a “write what you love” kind of gal. Sounds like we have that in common, even if you do space opera and I do Fantasy. Here’s to doing what you fell passion for instead of following what’s popular! I hope I’ll get a chance to read your book- it’s not one of my preferred genres, but it sounds fantastic!

    • Writing what you love FTW! 😀 I actually read about twenty times more fantasy than sci-fi books, which makes it a bit strange that my first novel is a space opera. Although, to be fair, the “science” in Imminent Danger is so blatantly made up that it borders on fantasy, lol. If you do end up giving Imminent Danger a shot, let me know what you thought of it!

      • Oh, I will… I’m waiting to see whether I’m getting a hand-me-down e-reader for my birthday. If not, I’ll save my pennies for the print version. 🙂
