I was hit by the website-creation bug today, so I built a website specifically dedicated to Imminent Danger And How to Fly Straight into It. It’s just one of those free websites, so nothing fancy. And most of the content is the same as my main author website, michelleproulx.com. But hey, I figure it can’t hurt to have a website dedicated to your book, right? So without further ado …
Click here to check out my new website!
As I went to the site to grab the URL, I laughed out loud as I noticed how many times the words “IMMINENT DANGER” appear on the home page. What do you guys think? Too dangerous, or too awesome? Maybe a little bit of both?
In other news, I’m at about 17k words for NaNoWriMo, so a victory on that front definitely isn’t in the cards. Still, it’s been fun! And then besides that … work … more work … and possibly lunch if I ever get away from my computer and track down some food.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Don’t forget to enter the Goodreads Giveaway for Imminent Danger (link in the sidebar) if you haven’t done so already!
Unrelated media of the day:
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for the past two days, so hopefully by sharing it with you guys, I can get it out of my head!
The new website looks great Michelle, but please don’t desert us old WordPress fossils LOL 🙂
Very nice website. I think this is a very smart way to promote.
Thanks! That’s the hope 🙂 Not that anyone is necessarily going to see it, but still … it gives me something to tinker with in my spare time, lol.
Hehehe. Don’t worry. I visit my “michelleproulx.com” site about once a month, and WordPress once a day, so I think we should be good 🙂
Great job on the new website, Michelle.
Thanks 🙂 I think it looks pretty darn spiffy. Then again, all I did was stick in the words and pictures — the template did all the rest!
Love the look of the website.
Woo! Thanks 🙂 I can’t believe what a high quality website you can make for absolutely free. It’s mind boggling.
Looks great, well done and much success with it!
Thanks!!!! 🙂
Looks great, Michelle! I need a new book to read aloud to my kids (ages 10 and 13), and I have yours at the ready on my Nook. Is it an appropriate read for kids of this age? (In other words, nothing too sexy)? They love sci-fi.
The sexiest it gets is a few kisses … and then there’s a bit of innuendo, but nothing too sexy 🙂 If you do end up reading it to them, let me know what they think!!! I’ve only had a few kids that age read the book, so I’d love to hear their reaction 🙂
Yea! Good to know, Michelle. Sounds perfect. If you’ve read Hunger Games or Divergent, that’s the level of sexuality I think is appropriate for tweens and young teens. Anything more than that is just not right for the age. We read aloud almost every night, because they still enjoy the “mommy time” and it helps them settle in for bed. Perhaps we’ll start tonight! I’ll certainly let you know. xo
I love it!! It’s very, VERY cool, and totally on-theme. I love when you just get the urge to make something sweet like that, you know?
(And of course I giggled with delight when I saw my pics all over the website–totally awesome!)
But I’m glad you’re still on WordPress here. 🙂 We need your blogging!!
And hey, 17k is more than you had before! I figure that’s about how much usable writing I got done over Nano, ha ha, but that’s OK. I think my new policy is everything should be edited like fifty billion times, ha ha. And sorry about work dragging you down, but I totally feel you. One of these days writing might get to come first. x)
Or at least I can dream, right?
I keep getting this insane urge to quit my job and just become a writer full time. But then I remembered that I’ve earned less than $500 from my writing so far, which definitely isn’t enough to live on, not to mention I really like going on cruises. So I will continue working, and hopefully I’ll gain some self control so I actually get my work done during the day and it doesn’t carry over into the evenings and weekends, lol.
And of course your work is decorating my new website! You’re pretty much my #1 fan 🙂 Well, except for my mother’s friend’s daughter, who is apparently legitimately in love with the book. I don’t know the details, but I have it on good authority that she’s hands down fan numero uno, lol.
Right? I haven’t made ANY money on mine yet, which makes my desire to run away and become a writer even worse of an idea than yours. And I can’t even afford cruises with my job. </3 But some day, some day… Just gotta keep plugging along. 🙂
Aww! That's okay, she's allowed to be your #1 fan if she wants. I won't hold a grudge. x) Maybe we can share it–be fans .5 and .5, thus making fan #1!! I'm so smart. And I'm definitely planning to do another pic now that insane-November is out of the way, although December is looking to be equally nuts… These last two months, man. They go by so fast.
Hahaha. I don’t know why, but when I read “I’m so smart” I just started laughing so hard. My poor brains. A new pic!!!!!!! My fingers are actually twiddling in excitement. It makes typing difficult. Bad fingers! I’ve always thought it bizarre that they put NaNoWriMo in November. Like, it’s a TERRIBLE time for students, and then most working types are gearing up for holiday deadlines. They should really make it in like … September or something. No one accomplishes anything in September, right? 😀
xDD Yeah, I think you’re a little loopy from one thing or another, but that’s okay. Aren’t we all. I literally asked the cute waiter at the restaurant I went to last night if he wanted cows in exchange for my meal. In my slight defense I was kind of drunk, but seriously. Does it GET much more awkward?? xDDD AhhGod.
ANYWAY. You’re totally right. September would be an awesome time for Nano. You’re just starting back to school, but you don’t actually have much to do yet, and there’s no major holidays. Everyone is just kind of bored.
A thought for future reference. Perhaps send them some strongly-worded e-mails about the situation.
Hehehe strongly worded emails are my specialty. Also, cows? LOL! I assume you were going for “cash” and misspoke … unless you keep a secret stash of cows in your wallet for emergency payment, which totally wouldn’t surprise me 😀
Me either, but you better believe everyone joked about that the whole way home. xD I obviously have the best of friends.
Nice Website, might have to check into Weebly for my stuff. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks 🙂 And give them a try! You can create a really kick butt website for absolutely free. And if you do get a paid site with them, tell me how it goes, because I’m really curious 🙂
Enjoyed your new site, Michelle. Congrats on getting it all together. 🙂
Thanks 🙂 I actually like it a lot better than my current author website, lol. I think I might need to do some re-designing on michelleproulx.com next!
