Pictures From My Assorted Book Events (OMG)

It just occurred to me that I haven’t shared any pictures from either the Chapters book signing or the Gathering on the Green festival from last weekend. Shame!

First of all, we have some choice photos from the Chapters book signing …

There you have it, folks! Two events down, two to go! Well, two that are scheduled, at least. I’m sure I’ll accidentally sign up for a few more before the summer ends. Thanks again to the lovely Rhiannon for photographing the above pictures. To see even more photos from these events, click here.

Unrelated media of the day:

I think we’ve had quite enough pictures for one day, don’t you? Here’s a cute video of a dog attempting to sing and play the piano.

  1. Soooo exciting! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. What a great way to promote a novel! Congrats and a great team effort!!

  3. Congrats on the great looking turnout. You look like you’re having a lot of fun at these things.

    • You know, they’re surprisingly fun! I thought it would be kind of boring, sitting in a tent all day, but the kids love spinning the wheel and winning candy, and there turn out to be a lot of people willing to chat with you when they see a “local author” sign.

  4. Nice job. 🙂

  5. That just drove my dog nuts!

I like the wheel. How did that work? And I think that picture of you and your mom is priceless. 🙂

    • Haha oh goodness, I hope I didn’t infect your dog with the piano/singing fever. You’ll never get a proper night’s sleep again.

The wheel went really well! Basically, the premise is you’re in a spaceship flying through space. Then IMMINENT DANGER strikes! You spin the wheel to see what your fate is — attacked by space pirates, eaten by a space worm, etc. — and then you escape your fate by answering a skill testing question and winning candy 🙂 The kids loved it — and there were a surprising number who actually liked answering the questions more than spinning the wheel, for some bizarre reason.

      • That IS weird. I mean, answering questions can be fun, but better than spinning a WHEEL? I don’t think so.

As for the dog thing, we don’t have a piano, and the dog only really “sings” when he’s telling us off, so I think we’re OK. He just looked confused, grumbled at the computer, and ran away to a less musical room. 🙂

  6. It looks like so much fun. I bet your mom is so proud, that’s why she was giddy. 😀

    • Haha yeah, I suspect so. Although she does have a tendency to fall over laughing at random moments, so that might have just been one of those times 😀

  7. First of all, you are sooo cute! And I love your mother. And it’s always fun to spot your brother. Drunk friends are good. The Wheel of Immin Dang is brilliant! Great pictures, Michelle. I sent the singing dog over to hubby in the den; he will love it!

  8. Haha, nice, Michelle Proulx! That’s awesome!

    • Which part? The Wheel of Imminent Danger? Or the fact that we had to duct tape a water bottle and a brick to the easel to stop it from blowing over? 😀

      • All of it, Michelle. All of it! 🙂 Though, the Wheel of Imminent Danger is really, really AWESOME!

  9. Well done Michelle – looks like you’re having a great time and the support team are fab! Photos are brilliant, excellent quality. Thanks so much for sharing and spurring us all on to get out there! 🙂

    • The support team are indeed fab 🙂 When two of my friends informed me that they’d be getting up super early to help me set up my tent, my first response wasn’t actually “Thanks”, it was “… really? But WHY? It’s so early!!!” 😀

  10. Gwen

Like, like, like! Summer is a great time to promote. Everyone comes out of hibernation ready to spend money!

  11. It looks like the events went great, and you look so happy! So happy for you!

  12. Congrats on your successful promo events. Looks like you really enjoyed yourself too. The picture of you and your mother is priceless 🙂

    • Hahaha she’s quite something, isn’t she? Her “breakdowns”, as I call them, happen on a regular basis. Once we were driving in the car and I said something, and she started laughing so hard I had to grab the wheel to stop us from swerving into traffic. Ever since then I have made a special effort to be a dull conversationalist whilst driving through high traffic areas.

  13. Oh, I love all of those pictures! 🙂 Thanks for getting those up! I absolutely think that outfit was a great choice–love the white jacket over that fun paisley shirt. You looked so nice and approachable, but professional! (Thumbs up!) And I was laughing at your wheel of imminent danger. xD Did you make that?? (Although I have to admit, I would have thought that ‘Abducted by aliens’ would be the most popular choice… ha ha!) You’re making a real go of it! ^^ i’m so happy for you.

    • Woo! Nice, approachable, and professional was totally what I was going for!!!

Haha yeah, the wheel. My mom’s friend did the cutting of wood and building of the wheel, and then Jesse and I painted it — I think it turned out fairly well 😀

Did I mention there’s another festival happening tomorrow? Fingers crossed for another good turn out! Oh, and I realized I never shared your awesome pic of Miguri and Eris on my blog … next post! Virtual slap me if I forget!

      • Then success all-around! ^^ And no, you didn’t say anything, but best of luck at that one as well! Just gotta keep peddling those books, lol, and maybe someday iUniverse will even tell you if you’re making any money! (Though I wouldn’t hold my breath…)

Oh, ha ha, that’s okay! x) Maybe one of these days I’ll even have time to do another picture–I haven’t even gotten to Varrin yet! </3

        • Update: Got my royalty statement! Huzzah! The numbers all look right too, which is awesome 😀 The sales themselves aren’t phenomenal, but hey, what can you do? I love reading about first-time authors complaining that they’re only selling 20 copies a day — I wish I had their problems!

          • No way!! xDD Go figure! Well, hey, keep at it. 🙂 Your book is awesome, and I’m sure it’ll pick up if you keep doing what you’re doing. 🙂

  14. inkspeare

Loved the pics, and it was nice to see your mom too. She looks so happy and proud of you 🙂

    • I like to think she is 😀 Then again, she has to be — I promised her I’d take her on a cruise once I became a best-selling author, so she’s kind of invested in my success now, lol.

      • inkspeare

Well, your mom better starts shopping for an awesome swimsuit because she is going on that trip and you my dear, will become what you want the most, so cheers to you and your mom 🙂

  15. Looks like you enjoyed the events and you’re getting your name out there!

  16. Those pictures are great. It looks like you had a lot of fun! 😀 Also, that bookshop where you had your signing looks like a place I would really, really like to visit .

Oh, and the dog made me laugh. Thank you for sharing!

    • The bookstore is Chapters, a chain of big bookstores in Canada — should you ever visit Canada, they should be easy to find 😀

  17. Chapters looks like a very cool bookstore, a very nice place to hawk your book. I’m impressed with how you’re pulling out all the stops for this, and it’s so wonderful that your family is being a great support. Thanks for sharing the photos. I hope you continue to enjoy any and all future promos!

    • The best part about that is Chapters was actually in the midst of massive renovations when I did my signing, so I was in one of the few areas of the store that wasn’t a construction zone, lol. Yeah, my family and friends have been really fantastic about this whole thing — I especially appreciate it when my friends who don’t even read books go out of their way to purchase a copy, just to support me. I’m sure I’ll enjoy all future promos — how could I not? 😀 Unless I get laughed out of the venue or something … dum dum dummmm!
